VATICAN CITY - ANCIENT ROME - SQUARES & FOUNTAINS
If you are going to be on a Mediterranean cruise with stop at Civitavecchia (Rome) you can go with a large group of fellow passengers on a full-day bus tour, or you can spend the day with an affable guide, in your own private vehicle, chatting and learning about the wonderful Italian way of life as you see the artistic masterpieces that make it a major destination. It takes about 90 minutes to drive to downtown Rome, where you'll meet the Guide. Thanks to your guide's expert knowledge of the city, you will waste no time getting lost! This means you'll be able to visit and understand St. Peter' Basilica. Afterwards you can visit Piazza Venezia and the Circus Maximus, the Roman Forum and the Palatine, the Coliseum tour, the world's most fascinating Amphitheatre. After a relaxing Roman lunch break, at about one o'clock, you can visit the Baroque area and see Piazza Navona, Trevi Fountain or the Spanish Steps. After such an exciting and interesting day, you'll enjoy the relaxing ride back to the pier. By the time you return to the ship, you will have a comprehensive understanding of The Eternal City, and perhaps you'll also have a list of sites you know you'll want to see upon your inevitable return.
